A note of caution about the 2018 electronic filing and HRM Software.

The IRS released its AIR Production Start-up Schedule for Filing Season 2019/Tax Year 2018 today, and a note of caution is in order for those who are eager to get the 2018 electronic filing requirement behind you.

The IRS AIR system will go-live at approximately 9 a.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. However, the Datatech HRM software will not be able to generate electronic files with the proper 2018 schema until the next major HRM update is released. The update is currently on schedule to be available during the first half of February, 2019.

Please do not try to generate or upload electronic files from the HRM Software for the Tax Year 2018 Information Returns until after the update is released and has been properly installed on your network. Additionally, until the January 15 go-live date, you may experience difficulties uploading files for prior year returns, including corrections and replacements.

Additionally, until the HRM Year End update is released, the 2018 1095-C and 1094-C Forms will not be available to print directly onto blank paper. If you must print and distribute 1095-C’s prior to the HRM Update release, you will need to purchase preprinted forms. However, keep in mind that if the IRS has made minor format changes to the forms, you could experience alignment issues when printing onto these new preprinted forms.
