As many of you know, Oregon is enacting a new statewide transit tax starting July 1, 2018. This tax is 1/10 of 1% of wages.

This tax applies to:

  • Oregon residents
  • Nonresidents who perform services in Oregon

For more information about the tax itself see the official Oregon website.

The Transit Tax Program Update

We are currently working on a program update that will allow our payroll module to handle this. The update should be available Friday, June 29, using the Check for Updates feature. If you are an employer that has any employees working in Oregon, this update will need to be downloaded as soon as possible.

This will update the program along with the tax rates. The OTT will be added as a line item on the check entry screens and it will be listed on check stubs.

What if I don’t get the update in time?

This tax goes into affect very soon. It is important to have this update installed before creating checks for the week of July 1st, 2018. However, if it is not downloaded in time, the program will automatically compensate for the missed wages on the next check that is created.

More Information Coming Soon

Once this update is finished, we will follow up with another blog post that details the setup required and how these changes will affect the program.
