NOTE: The following information is for Datatech customers who are using a Google email server and SMTP protocol within Datatech software.
To confirm if this is what you are using: (1) in the program, click Change Password/Email Settings or the corresponding icon in the tool bar; (2) in the Operator Setup window that opens, check the SMTP Settings.
Why the Change?
Google no longer allows your Google account password to be used to send emails via SMTP.
Therefore, if you are using a Google Email server and SMTP in Datatech, you will need to create an app password in your Google account. Then in the Datatech program, you must replace the email account password with the app password. To do this, please follow steps 3-5:
(3) Create your app password. Click here for instructions on how to do this.
(4) Click Change Password/Email Settings in the tool bar of the program. In the Operator Setup window, replace the SMTP Password and Retype Password entries with the new app password you created in step 3.
(5) Click Test SMTP to verify the email.
