The 2020 Year End Update was released earlier this week and is available for download now via the Tools->Check for Updates option.
A few reminders:
All users will need to exit out of the program before the update can be installed.
For network users, we recommend installing the update on your server. Then start the program on the server after installing to complete updates to the database that may be needed. The database updates may take some time to complete, so you may want to schedule the installation during off hours. Once the database updates are done, users may start the program up on their individual workstations.
You can close the 2019 payroll year before installing the year end update. But there have been changes to federal income tax withholding calculations. This includes a new set of tax tables. To issue checks in 2020 using the new withholding calculations, you must install the year end update.
The 2020 tax tables are not compatible with older versions of the program. For The Farmer’s Office and The Labor Contractor’s Office, this means build numbers prior to 2357.
The Year End Update for The Farmer’s Office and The Labor Contractor’s Office includes the Human Resource Management program. You do not need to use the Check for Updates option in HR to download a separate update. The HR program has already been updated with 1094-C/1095-C reporting changes for the 2019 tax year. Forms are include for 2019 and the electronic reporting option has been updated with the 2019 tax year schema changes and is ready to generate files when the IRS opens up the ACA reporting portal.
Additional updates will be published to address any issues that come up and to include some new features we are working on that weren’t quite ready for the initial Year End Update release.
